All things Alaska related

Just my size! Siri is so cute these days. She is starting to show her age (you know...2) from time to time which is so....what it is!!! She is proclaiming love for everything which makes me feel such joy and she likes to tell me "Mommy makes Siri so happy!" I melt!

This is my view from the kitchen sink (when the girls aren't dancing or jumping on the couch). I feel at home when I see the spider plant in the window the gifts of flags and our home made jean blanket. We have a huge lilac bush in our front yard- so lucky! (imagine my surprise one morning when I saw that dark purple bud about to bloom... I did think I was seeing things!) I also love this vase.....just a rock!

We had visitors!! Jessica and Lucy stayed with us a night... Myka could not contain herself!

One Lucky Me!

Myka on the phone: Blah, Blah, Blah, Like, Like, Like (Be forewarned...Myka is liking the sound of her own voice and what is coming out it quite fantastical! So we can debrief afterwards- who knows what she is saying these days!)

We have had a great week. A very true to Alaska week! The solstice has passed and now each day will be getting a little darker!! At its peak Actual Sunrise was at 4:05 AM Actual Sunset was at 11:56 PM the length of the day was 19h 50m and the length of visible light was 24 hours! On Monday I was laying on the floor stretching when a 5.7 earthquake hit (Chris and the girls were driving) It lasted for quite awhile (long enough for me to get up, assume the earthquake stance and realize that the tube might be an OK place to be during such an event!) We have had a lot of bears passing through town and while taking off Chris was lucky enough to see a momma and her THREE cubs at the end of the runway!! KTNA Keeps us informed as to where they are and we are bear aware! The cottonwood trees are letting go of their cotton and as with everything up here....there is just so much of it. I realized the other day in a moment of sheer joy (Beautiful sky, beautiful clouds and the cotton all in the air reflecting the light) that this is what it must feel like to live in a snow globe! Chris says it is like star wars warp drive while flying and that it never fails to make him sneeze once he reaches 10,000 feet! The girls and I are heading to Seward for the 4th. Myka just has to see those women run that race!! I will update after that. Love to you all!
P.S. Our neighbor (the towns rogue bush pilot doctor) mows the lawn in his underwear. First it was a pirate type and then christmas themed. "Mom is Doc in his underwear?" Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Chris

Just another day at work! I guess he was bored so he took some pictures!
Denali and the De Havillan!

Not a bad Panoramic! He said he will fine tune these shots a bit. I put it in here because this was a chartered flight. (Rudy Giuliani and his Lady are in the far back)

Just loading climbers.....

Thank You Rachael and Chuck!!! It looks great in front of our place and the girls play in it everyday! (Siri is just tall enough to poke her head through the top window!)

Circus!

Well, the Circus came to town! Actually circus camp came and then they had a show and Myka figured it to be a fabulous excuse to get all fancied up!! (Meghan, the face paints have been so fun... thank you!) Myka will start Circus Mites every Friday in July with a little show on the last day. She will be learning to juggle, do some tumbling and work on climbing( timely eh?).

We couldn't leave Siri out!!!

A fun way to cruise around town!

Siri is doing a little taste testing...( Sharon, they did a great job!!! YUMMY)

Just a little bike riding!

Only one minor wipe out!
Nice!

One will soon begin to notice that Siri has a healthy appetite these days!!

I like the K2 plane landing in the background. (It would have been even cooler if it was Chris!)

Love it!

Well, she did it and it was a piece of cake. Chris took off the training wheels and she was off. Not a hand hold or a 'run behind' needed. I think all of this riding on the gravel added to a little skill and some good balance has made for another little legit bike rider! So cute and now a little cocky!(Thank you Ralph once again for the first aid kit, I think I will put it in the back of the Chariot!)

More photos out at the Land

Siri's first dragonfly. She is very sweet and gentle. I caught a very cute little tiny frog and they both took turns holding it. They have been a little nervous of the bigger ones. I am surprised Siri didn't kiss it!!

A little nose in the book time!

I am having fun playing with the panoramic feature of our camera!

Yummy!? Turkey dogs over a camp fire!!

Land

Siri is not into Myka's slimy pretend fish!

This is Myka's new thing! Climbing trees! (mostly inspired by Pippi Longstocking) Our Alaskan trees aren't much for climbing..............

Now kissing on the other hand........(One can successfully kiss Alaskan trees!) This was one on the cutest things ever--- We got down to the pond and found Siri so excited to see all the 'little' dwarf trees that were her size that she went up to about 10 of them and gave them all a KISS.(please try to click on this picture for a excellent view of the lips!)

We have had great days at the land. It is such a haven for us and we spend nearly all day there. These pictures were taken before we went to Seward. I have some new ones to add from our new camera but haven't downloaded them yet. I am really excited about our camera---- we got the waterproof/sandproof/crushproof pocket sized camera that I don't have to be so cautious with. (Other than misplacing it!!) So more land shots to come!! I love you all and miss you tons. (I think Lucien and Jessy (Jeff, Jessica and Lucy will be coming up to their land out the tracks) are headed this way for the weekend! That will be fun!) Hope you are all enjoying your summer. Love CY
