All things Alaska related

Just my size! Siri is so cute these days. She is starting to show her age (you know...2) from time to time which is so....what it is!!! She is proclaiming love for everything which makes me feel such joy and she likes to tell me "Mommy makes Siri so happy!" I melt!

This is my view from the kitchen sink (when the girls aren't dancing or jumping on the couch). I feel at home when I see the spider plant in the window the gifts of flags and our home made jean blanket. We have a huge lilac bush in our front yard- so lucky! (imagine my surprise one morning when I saw that dark purple bud about to bloom... I did think I was seeing things!) I also love this vase.....just a rock!

We had visitors!! Jessica and Lucy stayed with us a night... Myka could not contain herself!

One Lucky Me!

Myka on the phone: Blah, Blah, Blah, Like, Like, Like (Be forewarned...Myka is liking the sound of her own voice and what is coming out it quite fantastical! So we can debrief afterwards- who knows what she is saying these days!)

We have had a great week. A very true to Alaska week! The solstice has passed and now each day will be getting a little darker!! At its peak Actual Sunrise was at 4:05 AM Actual Sunset was at 11:56 PM the length of the day was 19h 50m and the length of visible light was 24 hours! On Monday I was laying on the floor stretching when a 5.7 earthquake hit (Chris and the girls were driving) It lasted for quite awhile (long enough for me to get up, assume the earthquake stance and realize that the tube might be an OK place to be during such an event!) We have had a lot of bears passing through town and while taking off Chris was lucky enough to see a momma and her THREE cubs at the end of the runway!! KTNA Keeps us informed as to where they are and we are bear aware! The cottonwood trees are letting go of their cotton and as with everything up here....there is just so much of it. I realized the other day in a moment of sheer joy (Beautiful sky, beautiful clouds and the cotton all in the air reflecting the light) that this is what it must feel like to live in a snow globe! Chris says it is like star wars warp drive while flying and that it never fails to make him sneeze once he reaches 10,000 feet! The girls and I are heading to Seward for the 4th. Myka just has to see those women run that race!! I will update after that. Love to you all!
P.S. Our neighbor (the towns rogue bush pilot doctor) mows the lawn in his underwear. First it was a pirate type and then christmas themed. "Mom is Doc in his underwear?" Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
